Antec unveil the MX-1 external HDD enclosure

Walking round the miles and miles of CeBIT you see so many different companies all showing off the same thing. HDD enclosures are one of the most common items on show at CeBIT this year and it has to be said they are usually just an empty plastic box with a USB and power lead chucked in.

The MX-1 from Antec is slightly different from the rest though, with a forced air-flow system that has the ability to cool any drive up to the system’s 750GB drive capacity. Featuring a vented lid, the air is channelled over the top of the drive and round the back to escape through the underside. The drive itself sits on a silicon pad to ensure vibrations are reduced and the air is efficiently channelled.

With the dual interface of both USB and external SATA there is a great deal of potential with the MX-1 and the included eSATA bracket for your chassis is nice to see.

The MX-1 should be available through your favourite retailer soon.
