Reg Hardware, citing a report from HKEPC, analyses claims that Intel's 'Bloomfield' CPU's will be shipping with 1366 pins, whilst using the same land grid array (LGA) processes as are currently utilised in Intel's current LGA775 socket.

Leaked documentation previously reported upon at Reg Hardware indicates that the 'Bloomfield' codename refers to an Intel Quad-Core CPU, fabbed on a 45nm process and due for release in late 2008.

The HKEPC report already cited, claims that 'Bloomfield' will contain between 8 and 12 MB of L2 cache and perhaps even see the return of Intel's HyperThreading technology.

LGA1366, the name being quoted for the 1366 pin socket which will apparently be launched with 'Bloomfield', will be designated as Socket B and VRM requirements will be revised to version 11.1 from 11.0.
