Compro's latest mini TV tuner is a hybrid affair, set in a glossy black box and accompanied by a slim remote.

Analogue TV signals are supported by the tuner, although there aren't many areas that can't receive digital these days. More important is the tuner's support of DVB-T signals up to 1080i resolution. So, if they ever get around to turning off analogue (which we know is going to happen) and then keep plenty of spectrum for Freeview HD (which we hope will happen), this tuner will deal with the signals, host PC permitting.

The U2700 supports the usual host of features, including PIP/POP, time-shifting and so on. Compro's nifty software will also let you take a dump of an entire MPEG-TS (transport stream), so if all the programmes you want to watch are on simultaneously, all on the same multiplex, you can record them all with just one tuner. See, told you it was nifty.

MHEG-5 isn't supported by the software, which means no swanky interactive teletext. It seems only 3rd party PVR software writers ever bother coding that into their applications... at least some of said apps are free.

The U2700 will be here in the UK come April. Compro has informed us that it'll retail at Ā£49.95 including VAT. Oh, and it supports Vista too, but you'd expect nothing less now, right?
