South Korea-based technology giant Samsung unveiled its curved-screen phablet, the Galaxy Note Edge, in September, with plans to offer the handset as a 'limited edition concept device'. Since then many have speculated that this innovative curved edge screened smartphone would be denied a UK release.

That seemed like sad news for UK gadget lovers but according to The Inquirer, Vodafone has now confirmed that it will indeed be offering the device, having added the Galaxy Note Edge to its 'coming soon' page. The news comes following Samsung's move to grant the Galaxy Note Edge a release in Germany after fans petitioned the phone-maker via a campaign which gained over 130,000 signatures.

With no word on price or a release date in the UK, best guesses around the web are that the handset will be priced around the £650 mark SIM-free, with Mobicity taking pre-orders for £649.99, Clove for £650 and Mobilefun asking for £645.

The Galaxy Note Edge features a unique 'Edge Screen' secondary display (2560 x 160 pixels) which wraps around the edge of the handset with the ability to offer a range of context-based controls and new app possibilities. Other specifications include a 5.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) screen, a quad-core 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP rear camera and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage expandable via microSD.

With specifications rather similar to Samsung's flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 4, the Note Edge also comes with a stylus and runs Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box. HEXUS readers across the pond might be interested to know that the US released date of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has been confirmed as this Friday, November 14.

With the likes of the Noble 6 @ £249 and offering similar high specs (albeit 1080p screen) , do wonder if the latest £500 + phones are worth it.

£600+ for a mobile is silly money
