Introduction

When we took our first look at AMD's new Quad FX platform, we promised that we would be following that article up with further detailed testing. Due to time constraints, we didn't have the appropriate tests ready by the launch deadline to present to the reading public. So we presented what we had managed to conclude as a taster, with more to come.

After eating lots of Christmas cake and burning off the calories by stomping the floors of CES, we've now managed to put some additional tests together. AMD's primary claim for Quad FX is that it's ideal for running lots and lots of apps at the same time, with acceptable performance in every single one. AMD has coined a new term to describe this - megatasking. In this article we put that claim to the test, pitting Quad FX against Core 2 Quad and the dual-core competition. Read on to see how it fares.
