Physical Layout
Physically it's standard PSU size; 150x86x160m. Cabling runs to the following:
- ATX 24-pin power connector with 24-to-20 pin convertor
- 8 and 4-pin ATX12V auxiliary power connectors
- Ground/return loop connector
- 5 x 4-pin Molex loops, two Molex per loop, two loops have floppy connectors
- 2 x SATA power connectors
This is both a blessing and a hindrance. For smaller cases, you'll be left tying cables out of the way a lot of the time, ten Molex 4-pin connectors see that there'll be plenty spare to keep tidy. The main ATX cable has a braided sheath to keep the twenty four separate cables bunched together for easy routing. Tight direction changes aren't its forté; it's a bulky cable, but not massively so.
The SATA power connectors, only a pair (I'd have liked to have seen four, sacrificing one of the two-Molex cable runs), are clearly labelled, you can't mistake them for anything else.
The ground/return loop comes with a screw, for attaching to your case. Tagan recommend you use it to reduce ripple noise effects under high PSU loads.
There's a definite air of quality about how it's assembled, from the braided ATX power cable, to the ATX 24-to-20 pin power adaptor, meaning you can use the PSU on server boards too. Tagan take the presentation of their flagship PSU very seriously.
