Introduction

Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 P965 mainboard

We're sure last week's release of Intel's Core 2 Duo processors didn't escape your attention. If it somehow did, take a look at our review to see just how good they are. The bottom line, we felt, was that Core 2 Duo inception has helped Intel leapfrog AMD's Athlon 64 series as the performance CPUs of 2006.

Intel launched Core 2 Duo based on the existing LGA775 form factor, making it compatible, with a few modifications, with a raft of current chipsets. The first performance chipset to provide native support, however, is Intel's 965-Express series. With that in mind, we've taken a look at a high-end offering from Gigabyte. The GA-965P-DQ6 looks impressive on paper. Let's see how it pans out in our comprehensive review.
