There's a new RAM war hotting up and it's at the high-end of the DDR2 spectrum.

Patriot Memory are the latest company to launch a product competing at the top of the DDR2 memory range, releasing a PC8000 (DDR2 1000MHz) product, with the lowest timings yet seen for such a product.

The DDR2 8000 XBL modules, available in 1GiB or 512MiB varieties (and dual-channel packs, of course) are rated to operate with 4-4-4-12 timings at 1000MHz. In comparison, OCZ's DDR2 PC2-8000 Platinum XTC Extreme Edition modules operate at 4-5-4-15 and Corsair's higher frequency TWIN2X1024-8500 (DDR2 1066MHz) run with 5-5-5-15 timings. It looks then, like the Patriot modules could, at the right price, put up a good fight in the enthusiast market.
