Leaked promotional photos of the ASUS MeMO 10 have emerged, displaying this as-yet-unannounced tablet from various angles and in different colours. The photos come from a Dutch website called tablets magazine. In mid-January, shortly after the end of CES, ASUS unveiled the 7-inch MeMO Pad and this new 10-inch MeMO looks like it will complement that tablet nicely.

The 7-inch MeMO was aimed at the ever more crowded budget end of the Android tablet market. Looking at the rumoured specs, the MeMO Pad 10 should also be a more affordable 10-inch tab.

According to tablets magazine the ASUS MeMO Pad 10-inch specs are:

  • Screen: 10.1-inch IPS display at 1280x800 pixels
  • Processor: NVIDIA Tegra 3
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Storage: 16GB + microSD card slot
  • Connectivity: USB and HDMI
  • Colours: white, grey and pink
  • Software: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Android Central adds some more meat to those bones, informing us that there is a 5MP rear camera and the Tegra 3 processor runs at 1.2GHz. All in all the specs are decent but not cutting edge, which fits in with the MeMO Pad philosophy if the 7-incher was any indication of ASUS’s intent to make a range of cheaper devices.

I do see a small problem with the prices we have seen though, where the 8GB 7-inch MeMO Pad is suggested to retail at around $149, the cheapest 16GB 10.1-inch MeMO Pad is €299 ($410) or €329 ($450). These prices for the 10-incher are mid-market rather than cheap.

A fortnight ago Engadget ran a story about an unboxing video which was supposed to show the ASUS MeMO Pad 10 (courtesy of Mobile Arena). That video has since been taken down, but I found what I assume to be a copy of it here.

However all these specs and prices are still all only speculation, as we haven’t heard any official news from ASUS. All the official specs and details will be unveiled at the MWC later this month.

Those prices are too high for a low resolution tablet running a Tegra 3.

I'd expect a higher performing SoC, e.g., Exynos 5 or Tegra 4, and 300+ DPI display at those prices.

The pricing must be incorrect!
Overpriced - needs to be Ā£250 with those specs. I'd rather get a Nexus 10 16gb and pay the extra.
Looks very similar to my transformer pad (tf300) apart from the onboard USB (which the tf300 has on the keyboard dock) - even has the same screen and CPU. Guess its a cheap way to release a new tablet.

300+ppi? You'd be lucky, even the nexus 10 only has a 300ppi screen and thats the best in the world currently.
Tegra3 is getting quite old hat now, at a year old it's a generation behind in the mobile world.
