Shuttle X100 Mini XPC SFF System - the smallest yet?

If the Media Center M2000 just isn't small enough for you, Shuttle, purveyor of some of the finest SFF barebones units to date, has also announced its XPC Mini X100 unit.

Like the M2000, the X100 (with X denoting ultra small) is also based on Intel's Viiv platform. The chassis measured a scant 21x29x5.35cn (LWH) and housed an Intel Core Duo T2400 CPU, i945PM motherboard with native high-definition audio support, 250GB SATA2 hard drive, 512MB RAM, half-height DVD ReWriter, multiformat card reader, Gigabit LAN, triple-band WiFi, FireWire, and 4 USB2.0 ports. Here, though, ATI's Mobility Radeon X1400 128MB GPU provides video outputs via DVI or S-Video.

A perusal of the specifications shows that Shuttle has taken the guts out of a Media Center-based notebook and have plonked it into a small, sleek chassis. The X100 will also be offered with either wired or wireless input devices, whilst an MCE remote control is an optional extra.

The low-power nature of the package allows Shuttle, with its vast experience of engineering power supplies for SFF units, to include a fanless model that's capable of delivering 120W.

An interesting model that's sure to draw attention by dint of its diminutive size.

Shuttle will also be introducing a 19-inch TFT to complement its existing XP17 monitor. It will be appropriately named XP19. It's due to be released in June 2006.
