XFX like to make life a little more interesting than usual, even in their press release. The latest one, not surprisingly related to the 7800GS AGP, puts a Samurai spin on the whole product launch.

Indeed, they've flexed their literary muscles for this one...

Mastering the techniques of war, Outlaw needs to be Better, Faster, Cooler and Quieter than any of his opponents. In doing so, he has sharpened his latest sword; the GeForce 7800 GS series. In the process of becoming the ultimate warlord in graphics, the years of eXTreme training have paid off and made it possible to create two brand new heroes. The ‘Apprentice’, called XFX GeForce 7800 GS will nForce the basic level of superiority and the ‘Master’, XFX GeForce 7800 GS eXTreme Edition, crushes everything else out there, leaving no room for mercy.

What that basically gives us is a GeForce 7800 GS running at 380/1200 and an eXTreme edition running at 440/1300. As we've seen in our early tests these cards are pretty flippin'' nippy for products on AGP, so if you're still sticking with that AGP motherboard but want a graphics upgrade, one of these is likely the way to go.

They could've at least called the top end edition ‘Shogun’ ! And I wait with baited breath for the day a graphics card company doesn't sell it's cards in lurid packages with rubbbish animated characters on the front.
