Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP Widescreen LCD Display
We took a look at Dell's impressive 2405FPW 24-inch wide-aspect TFT a short while
back. Boasting impressive specifications with an abundance of features/connectivity, the WUXGA panel (1920x1200 pixels) combined good looks, exceptional image quality, and a decent asking price to boot.
A 24-inch panel is a huge step up, both in terms of resolution and screen estate, from 17- and 19-inch panels that ship with most modern PC systems. Indeed, many users are in agreement that the 2405FPW provides the optimum balance between resolution and size.
However, if 24 inches simply isn't large enough for you and you don't fancy the delights of multi-display setups, Dell has now released a new panel that provides much of the basic goodness found in the 2405FPW, but does so with a larger screen. Enter the Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP: a 30-inch, wide-aspect panel with a native resolution of, wait for it ..........., 2560x1600 pixels.
Launched a few days into 2006, The Dell 3007WFP (note the different model suffix) matches Apple's 30-inch, ultra-high resolution display but undercuts the Apple's price by around £300. £1471 (yes, it's a lot of money) currently buys you Dell's flagship TFT. We bought (see, review websites don't all receive free kit) one directly from Dell, to see if it could displace our 2405FPW as our monitor of choice. Read on to find out if it does.
