Introduction

For those of you that have had your eyes closed for a split second may have missed the release of another revision of the popular 845 series DDR platform for the Pentium 4. Today we are going to be looking at one of the latest incarnations, Intel I845GE chipset, in the form of the Intel D845GEBV2.

You may be asking yourself what's different this time, official DDR333 support, Hyper threading technology for the upcoming 3.06Ghz processors. The "G" in the chipset name indicates integrated graphics this now runs at a core speed of 266Mhz an increase of 66Mhz from the previous revision.

Intel seems to be following the trend of including many features onboard. They have included 6 channel sound, 3d graphics,USB2.0, and 10/100 Lan onboard these along with 6 PCI slots and an AGP slot ensure plenty of expansion room for the future.

There is no voltage or over-clocking option either in the bios or via jumpers on the motherboard. So in order to judge the performance we are going to compare it with a Shuttle SS51G in a variety of popular benchmarks with both onboard graphics and a high-end TI4600.

Let’s have a look at the board in more depth...
