Modders succeed?

Modification specialists Team I.C.E appear to have completed the first Xbox 360 mod chip. The chip is unsuprisingly named I.C.E chip version 1.0, although what does I.C.E stand for?

Retailing at the cost of $70 the chip can now be bought from one of the online retailers mentioned on their website.

On a number of forums people don't actually believe that the chip is ready. The official diagram is currently not on the website which certainly arouses suspicion. In defence I.C.E stated ,“Regarding our chip as a ‘fake’, Firstly, if you believe this then leave, secondly this chip will be released, and will hit the market shortly, to all the non believers. As for pre-orders, we are only gathering lists at this time for initial stock release, we are NOT accepting payment of any sort, please do not send us any money at this time, contact your retailers listed above. Thanks!”

This follows on from the news a few weeks ago about a Dutch group of hackers called Team PI who posted binary images of Xbox games discs across the internet

The I.C.E website. provides further details of the new chip(although not many).

Edit: Eurogamer claim that they are not mod chips 'but standard commercially available microcontroller boards with the "I.C.E. v1.0" text written over them.' Interestingly they tell us that both the I.C.E website and mod chip suppliers, InfinityMods.com are owned by the same people. Nice way to drum up hits, but not good for business if they are fake.
