Fancy watching a Blu-movie?

Gaming website, Computer and Video Games have said that Sony have revealed 20 movie titles that will be available for the PS3's Blu-ray technology.

These twenty films should all be available on launch and more great films will follow at the rate of 4 per month.

SPHE's Benjamin S Feingold said: "With the announcement of these first 20 titles, I am delighted to say that the age of Blu-ray has truly arrived. BD delivers the most advanced high-definition experience available to entertainment enthusiasts today, while offering filmmakers a limitless canvas to express their artistic vision."

Blu-ray Disc is the name of a next-generation optical disc format. The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video, as well as storing large amounts of data. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25GB, which can be used to record over 2 hours of HDTV or more than 13 hours of standard-definition TV. There are also dual-layer versions of the discs that can hold 50G. Whilst DVD uses a red laser to read and write data, the new format uses a blue-violet laser instead

Blu-ray is expected to replace VCRs and DVD recorders with the transition to HDTV over the coming years. The format is also likely to become a standard for PC data storage and HD movies in the future.

Here is the list of 20 films available on launch:

The Fifth Element
Bram Stoker's Dracula

For a Few Dollars More

Hitch
House of Flying Daggers
A Knight's Tale
