XFX's AGP variant of the GeForce 6800 GS is now available, breathing yet more life into the ageing graphics port.
Users with AGP motherboards looking for a graphics upgrade, but not the hassle of a new PCIe motherboard, can survive at least one more upgrade. The AGP 6800 GS clocks at 350/1000 core/memory. It has dual-DVI, just like its PCIe bretheren, along with TV-out. XFX is bundling an overclocking tool with the cards, along with Tenomichi's 3D edit.
The 6800 GS AGP is available now, but also set to come out in the near future is another 6800 GS AGP variant from XFX, the eXTreme. This model, as you might have guessed, will feature bumped up core and memory clocks. However, just what those clocks will be remains to be seen.
Providing you have a fairly decent processor and memory subsystem, an AGP card like the 6800 GS will give you a nice boost in graphics performance, so people hanging onto their early socket 754 and 939 motherboards can keep on laughing...
