King Kong

Ubisoft have told fans that they should avoid playing King Kong on the new Xbox 360.

In an interview with BBCi Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot said that the 360 game is too dark on standard TVs, making it difficult to play.

"I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't see it when we were developing the game," he told the BBC News website. "We have a problem on the 360," said Mr Guillemot. "The screen is dark on some TVs and it totally changes the experience. When it's dark, you don't see where you have to go."

He was keen to point out that "When you play on an Xbox or a PlayStation 2, you start to see that it is beautiful."

The Official game of the Epic movie has apparently sold well and Ubisoft will be extremely dissapointed that the problem wasn't sorted out in the development stages.

Fair play to them for holding their hands up and admitting they have made a balls up!

Now there is a qualiy bit of quality control.

But surely if it's to dark on a normal TV, it will be even worse on a LCD?

Nope. It seems the developers only used HD screens during the games development, but didn't think to check it on a normal TV

The Ubisoft boss said the team who made the game used certain settings on high-definition TV screens.

It did not occur to them that there would be a problem with standard televisions, which are what most people use to play console games.

Other 360 games, like Microsoft's Perfect Dark Zero, offer an option to select what type of TV is being used.

I played Kong on an HD TV and I found it incredibly dark and had no idea where I was going.
