ECS Introduces NVIDIA NFORCE4 SLI x16 motherboard

Was the reduced bandwidth ever an issue? I thought it was such a big leap from AGP that it wouldn't really affect the speed of current cards going from 16x PCI-E to 8x PCI-E.
is it just me or that that design seem……dumb?
SLI x16 is a waste of time anyway. Gfx cards don't come anyway near to maxing out 8 lanes never mind 16 lanes. Just the same as the AGP 8x interface isn't a bottleneck for bandwidth.

Graphics card manufacturers wanted to change to PCI-Express because it allowed more power to be provided to the card through the slot than AGP.
I'm pretty sure the NF4-SLI 16x is a dual (north + south) chip solution. Maybe I'm missing something, but that board only appears to have a northbridge.
