Supermicro UK Announces Appointment of Experienced Local Channel Professional to Head UK Business and Beyond

Full Line of Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Servers and Storage Solutions Now Available from Supermicro

London, October, 2005 -- Supermicro Computer UK has announced the appointment of Dev Tyagi, effective October 24th 2005, as General Manager to look after its UK business and beyond. Dev Tyagi has been working in close partnership with Supermicro for over ten years in pan-European distribution.

Alex Hsu, president of Supermicro Europe says, “Having Dev on the team is a great asset to the Supermicro business. He brings with him a wealth of experience and understanding of the computer industry and the various routes to market.”

Wally Liaw, Vice President of International Sales has this to say: “It is really significant that Dev has been contracted by Supermicro Computer Inc. from a known resource. This ensures that part of our channel remains stable and that we can harmonise sales in the chosen territories we have asked Dev to enrich.”

Supermicro is known for manufacturing high quality, first-to-market solutions. This is emphasised in the recent announcement of Intel Pentium® D dual-core solutions. Supermicro's Pentium® D solutions support the latest dual-core architecture that delivers unmatched multi-tasking capabilities in a uni-processor environment. Maximizing on performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness, it features up to 8GB DDRII memory support, high-speed PCI-X-133/100 and PCI-express expansion slots, gigabit connectivity, 3Gps SATA storage and IPMI management.

Supermicro’s new 5015P series redundant 1U Pentium® D servers feature a 400-watt power supply with an optional redundant power supply and four SCA drive bays to support SCSI or SATA hard drives. These servers are best used in high-availability cluster systems or databases.

For more compact solutions, the SuperServer 5015M series of 1U Pentium® D servers offer high performance dual-core processing in several cost-effective form factors. The 5015M-MF is only 14 inches deep, but still supports up to 8GB DDRII memory along with two PCI-express gigabit LAN ports.

Currently, Supermicro is the first and only server manufacturer to offer a complete line of SAS-optimized solutions including servers, serverboards, chassis and storage mobile-racks. For early adoption to DP dual-core servers, all of Supermicro’s server solutions are compatible with the first dual-core Xeon™ processors codenamed Paxville DP, which will be available in early October 2005 and can boost performance by up to 50 percent over previous generations.

The SuperServer 6014P-32R is an outstanding solution, which is in production now. Featuring the Super X6DHP-3G2 serverboard in the SC816 redundant-power 1U chassis, the SS6014P-32R supports the following impressive specs: up to 16GB of ECC Reg. DDR2-400 memory, two universal slots that can support either PCI-X-133/100 or PCI-Express x8 expansion, eight SAS/SATA ports (supporting 4 internal hard drives and over 100 external hard drives for JBOD), dual gigabit Ethernet ports, optimal fan speed control, and an IPMI 2.0 socket with a 3rd LAN option for server management.

A standard 1U system, the SS6014H-32 supports the same features as the SS6014P-32R with two universal expansion slots that support up to two PCI-Express x8 or two PCI-X-133/100 cards. For convertible 4U/tower systems, the SuperServer 7044H-32R shares a similar design along with the following additional features: 8 internal SAS drive support, 2 PCI-Express x8, 3 PCI-X-133/100, and one legacy PCI slot. Meanwhile, the SS6024H-32 is a 2U server powered by the Super X6DH3-G2 serverboard, and it supports six internal SAS drives.

With all of these new product lines available and the appointment of Mr. Tyagi, Supermicro UK can now provide even better support and service to its customers.
