We hope you enjoyed the gorgeous weather this past week. All indications are that it's going to worsen in the next few days, so why not sit back and take a gander at the extensive coverage on your favourite tech website.

The talk of the tech town has revolved around the GeForce GTX 680, rightly so, but don't let such myopic praise blinker you from the fact that the Radeon HD 7970 is also a mighty fine GPU. Sapphire slaps on a well-performing cooler and increases frequencies for its Dual-X card.

We understand that not everyone has a limitless budget to spend on the next component upgrade. Coming in at around £150 cheaper is the pre-overclocked XFX R7870 Black Edition Overclocked. Suitably fast and great for gaming on a full-HD monitor, XFX's card is pitted against two other pre-overclocked HD 7870s.

Prefer to get your kicks the pre-built way? Then take a look at Dino PC's Raptor X79 OC. We reckon it's a decent machine with a few shortcomings. Let us know what you think.

We couldn't let the week pass without giving the best GeForce and Radeon cards a shootout when set to the same frequencies. NVIDIA has the upper hand in the as-shipped specs, absolutely, but inch the Radeon up and matters become far closer. Perhaps there's life in the Radeon HD 7970 yet, and our analysis paints an optimistic picture of the current status quo for high-end graphics: both NVIDIA and AMD are at the top of their games.

All this lovely tech to gawk at and not enough cash to buy it? Fear not, dear readers, as HEXUS has ramped up the competitions to an all-time high.

Here's your last chance to win, for free, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 graphics card and an Iiyama T2451MTS multi-touch monitor. Cripes, it's a shame I can't enter!

In other news, PowerColor goes crazy for the Radeon HD 7970 with the Vortex II card; EVGA and Palit announce pre-overclocked GeForce GTX 680 cards; Google opens a campus in London; cases begin to emerge for the quaint Raspberry Pi computer, and the rumour mill conjectures the PlayStation 4 may be called the Orbis.
