While many smartphone makers are planning to use the platform of the upcoming World Mobile Congress to announce their new product lines, a few companies just can’t wait to let the cat out of the bag.

One such firm is Korean-based LG Electronics, who has today lifted the lid on its new Optimus Vu smartphone, which actually looks more like a tablet. In fact, with its 5in 1,024 x 768 pixel display, it’s very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note, though It is a little slimmer, measuring 8.5mm thick compared to the Note’s 9.7mm frame

The Optimus Vu features a dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, 8 megapixel camera, Adreno 220 GPU, 32GB of internal memory and LTE support. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, though Ice Cream Sandwich will arrive via an update, and it comes equipped with a stylus.

The specifications include DLNA, HDMI, LTE, T-DMB, Wi-Fi Direct and a 2,080mAh battery. It’s currently unknown whether Optimus Vu will make it Europe, though we do know it will launch in South Korea in March.

The World Mobile Congress kicks off in Barcelona on 28th February, where all the major smartphone and tablet makers are set to reveal their latest devices.

Both.

I want to be there when she tries to fit that monster in her pocket! ;)
android 2.3?

I don't understand why companies are releasing devices without 4.0. Surely it would be better to just get it right first time than create it with one version and update soon after release.

lolz..this is LG we're talking about, they couldn't even get 2.3 right on the Optimus 2x till a couple of months ago, so I wouldn't hold out much hope of decent ICS build till some time in …2013:p
Android 2.3 makes this a non-starter for me. Why buy a brand new smartphone and then wait 6-12 months (if you are lucky) to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich?
