Still to be officially revealed on November 9, ASUS demonstrated its restyled Eee Pad Transformer Prime detachable tablet yesterday at AsiaD.

ASUS Transformer Prime

The Transformer Prime is the recently-rumoured Transformer 2 tablet, albeit with even more Transformers-related coinage in the name. Whilst awaiting full details from the official launch day, ASUS did reveal a few facts and titbits about the device.

Yes, the Transformer Prime will sport an NVIDIA quad-core Tegra 3 (Kal-El – more TV show coinage). There will be USB, Mini-HDMI and SD support. ASUS also promises a 14.5-hour battery life. The pad itself will be thinner at only 8.3 mm. Gleaned from images the rear camera now appears to have a flash, likely following criticism of the quality of the camera found on the original Transformer.

The display remains at 10 inches with a capacitive touch. At this stage there's no actual confirmation of Android 4.0 but following ASUS trend, if the tablet doesn't arrive with this pre-installed, an update will no doubt soon follow.

ASUS Transformer Prime

With Apple yet to announce its latest iteration in the iPad series, ASUS tablets armed with the virtue of experience could be alluring choices for prospective purchasers looking for the latest tablet tech. this holiday season. Though with ASUS also announcing its new Padfone Tablet slated for early 2012, which combines and phone and a tablet-like docking station, some of us may have trouble choosing which product to wait for.

Product seems to have potential, but they can't put on a PR show like Apple, can they? The conversation was very clumsy.
That looks fantastic. I was mulling over the idea of selling my iPad and grabbing a Transformer, but I think I'll wait on the Prime. One of the things I wasn't too hot on was the thickness, the Transformer is thicker than the 1st iPad even without the keyboard dock. This looks like it's thin enough to hit the mark! Plus powerful to boot, should make a nice W8 laptop/tablet hybrid some time next year :D
Great naming scheme haha :clapping:
Would love to see how android performs with the new Tegra 3. It was still sluggish with Tegra 2 at times

I own both, iPad certainly felt nicer to hold but find I use my transformer more now as Android has gotten faster (was a bit buggy on release now really good and speedy).

What iPad had going for it was thickness and responsiveness but with Transformer Prime + Android 4.0 there's no question imo unless an iPad3 comes out.
