May the Sandforce be with you

Corsair is following in the footsteps of Patriot - among other SSD manufactures - with the release of its Sandforce-SF2280 controller-equipped Force Series GT range of SSDs.

The Force Series GT line-up comes in three capacities: 60GB, 120GB and 240GB. All ffer the same 555MB/s read speeds, but the write speeds vary from drive to drive, at 495MB/s, 515MB/s and 525MB.s for the 60GB, 120GB and 240GB models respectively. All three drives offer random write speeds of 85KOPS/s (assuming a 4Kb file size).

The Force Series GT SSDs all come equipped with SATA III interfaces, though they are of course backwards compatible with SATA II. All of the models include a 2.5in to 3.5in bracket adaptor, making it as easy to install the Force Series GT drives in a desktop PC as in a laptop.

Corsair will be asking for $149 USD for the 60GB model and $279 USD for the 120GB model; no price has yet been given for the most capacious model. UK pricing will obviously be a little different - and probably more expensive - but nonetheless given the performance on tap the Force Series GT solid-state drives don't look to be placed at too much of a premium.
