PowerColor has unveiled a passively cooled HD 6850 graphics card - known as the SC3 HD6850.

The manufacturer tells us that its cooling solution offers an optimal heat dissipation surface area - including coverage for memory and other key components - and features five high performance heat-pipes to maximise cooling performance.

As for clock speeds, these come in at 775MHz for the core, and 1,000MHz (4,000MHz effective) for the 1,024MB GDDR5 memory.

There's a 3+1 phase VRM design and PowerColor also touts its use of ‘Gold Power Kit' - comprising of selected components chosen to enhance operating stability and longevity.

I am enjoying these passively cooled graphics cards. With such a slow down in power demand from games, I am looking forward to the industry refining chipset, lowering wattage and cooling these cards better.
Hmmmm, a possible upgrade from my 4870 if this site it to be believed..

granted my 4870 is a touch faster than that site suggests but the 6850 should be faster still regardless..
With all passive high-end cards, you need a case fan blowing air towards it or have a system with decent cooling inside it.
