Watford Electronics, one of the UK’s leading mail-order PC hardware and software resellers, announced today the acquisition of intellectual property from Digital Networks PLC. Trading under the brands Demonite, Order24-7 and Carrera-SSC, Digital Networks PLC officially went into administration earlier this week.

The intellectual property acquired by Watford Electronics includes both Carrera and Demonite brands, as well as some sales and technical-support infrastructure. In addition Watford Electronics will take on Digital Network PLC’s Birmingham-based sales office, as well as the majority of its staff. These will run independently as a wholly-owned division of the Watford Electronics Group, and will be subject to substantial investment in the future.

Through augmentation of both Carrera and Demonite product lines with its own award-winning Aries PC and notebook range, Watford will further establish itself as a major player in the UK direct-order PC market.

“The acquisition of the Carrera and Demonite brands represents a fantastic opportunity for us” said Shiraz Jessa, MD, Watford Electronics. “The Carrera brand can only strengthen our position in the mainstream consumer space, while the Demonite brand will give us a firm foothold in the high-end home PC market, including the exciting and rapidly-expanding home/LAN gaming market.”

“It’s our intention to honour all current outstanding orders with full warranties. With regards to existing Carrera and Demonite customers, we’re evaluating the warranty situation, but are confident we will be able to put together a package that’s acceptable to all parties. We’re sensitive as to the needs and concerns of these customers and will be contacting each and every one as soon as possible.”
