The GTX 550 Ti is in ASUS' domain now with the unveiling of two parts that the company hopes, you'll be giving the VIP treatment to.

The Ultimate GTX550 Ti DirectCU is very much centre of attention in First Class, showing off factory-overclocked bling at 1,015MHz for the GPU, and 4,200MHz in the memory departments.

Taking a seat just behind the curtain is the GTX550 Ti DirectCU TOP, which still has a healthy tally of 975MHz on the core clocks, despite settling in at reference speeds of 4,104MHz for the 1,024MB GDDR5.

Both solutions take their cooling cue from ASUS' DirectCU cooler which taps into the potential of all-copper heat pipes, using optimal contact with the GPU to aid heat transfer. In the company's view, this provides up to a 20 per cent advantage against reference cooling when running at full-pelt.

More amenities round-off your experience with both SKUs taking advantage of the company's Super Alloy Power, adding that extra special something to deliver a subtle kick of performance, whilst also assisting in keeping operating temperatures in check.

Given that Hexus has so far covered boards from Gigabyte, MSI, FKA2, and now ASUS, and all of them use custom cooling solutions, coupled to the fact that Hexus weren't seeded with a reference card for launch anyway and had to review a partner-provided custom card, I'm starting to think that perhaps there isn't actually a reference design for this card… :O_o1:
