Wax on, wax off

Has Google's unabated development pace become the norm for you? If so, you probably won't express much surprise in knowing that the release version of Chrome 10, is now ready for action.

The company is particularly proud of a claimed 66 per cent improvement in JavaScript performance, using the V8 benchmark suite, whilst changes to the browser settings UI should make for a more intuitive experience when you want to get under-the-hood.

From a usability viewpoint, users are now able to use the browser's password synchronisation feature across multiple computers, whilst encryption can also be added to address any security concerns. The integrated Flash player also gets to join the sandbox party, preventing the ability for any malicious code to propagate its wares.

If you want to test Google's claims to have delivered a faster, simpler and safer browser, head on over here. If you're an existing Chrome user, the polish should be delivered automatically.

If they could get the password synching working with android phones I might be tempted to change my browser to this :D
I would change from Firefox to Chrome, but I can't seem to make it delete my history everytime I close the browser or just not keep one at all :/

Why not use LastPass? It's so much better than any built in password manager I've ever used and surprisingly secure too.

I have over 50 passwords so a password manager is mandatory for me, at some point I'll go premium to use a Yubikey but that won't be any time soon.

That's very easy, go to Options> Under The bonnet> Privacy- Content Settings. You'll find everything you need in there.

As for Chrome 10, it's a welcomed improvement. Recently I moved away from the dev/beta channel due to a problem I had with some websites. The stable releases are almost as frequent as the beta channel ones between version 2 and 5 so I am happy with how up to date the browser is.
how long until we have chrome version 100? why cant they slowdown with the version numbers and use 10.1 10.2 etc.

btw does chrome still install lots of google stuff that always runs in the background and isnt removed when you uninstall chrome?

Interesting question, often those things are hidden, and for me I've never bothered looking for them. When I look in my processes I find that each instance of chrome is for one of the extensions I installed so all accounted for. I'm not sure what else to be looking for, anything as an option during install I deselect- so no toolbar or promotions for me.

Do you know of some examples of “google stuff” I could look for on my PC?
