Stellar deal?

Samsung has added a free entertainment bundle to its Galaxy Tab in a bid to snare shoppers before Christmas.

The company claims the tablet comes with free music, films, games and eBooks worth £200 so users can start using the tablet to its full capability straight away.

The bundle includes: a choice of 50 MP3s from eMusic, 15 films from Samsung Movies, 7 games by Gameloft and 5 eBooks from WHSmith's best-seller list so users can start personalising their 7 inch tablet.

To redeem the entertainment package consumers have to visit Samsung's Galaxy Tab website and enter the unique code found on their Galaxy Tab's box.

While Apple is expected to enjoy a bumper fourth quarter as the iPad tops many a Christmas list, it would appear as if Samsung is trying to position its similarly-priced tablet as a better value option for savvy shoppers.

A recent survey discovered while Apple is still the tablet brand du jour, a third of people would pick a non-Apple tablet if it was £100 cheaper, while 65 percent would desert the desirable brand for a £200 discount. While Samsung it not offering a price cut of its tablet per se, it will be interesting to note whether consumers respond to its ‘free' content proposition.

Simon Stanford, MD of mobile at Samsung UK and Ireland said: "We've used our strategic partnerships with leading brands to put together an entertainment package that will let people enjoy the Galaxy Tab straight away."
