HIS and AMD Radeon HD 6870

We've not taken any particular photographs of the HIS Radeon HD 6870 because it is identical to the reference design, save for an HIS sticker.

The bigger, meaner Radeon HD 6870 1,024MB sports the same design aesthetic as its smaller brother.

Pulling a Radeon HD 5850-matching 151W at full load, the HD 6870 has the obligatory dual-six-pin power layout.

Seen these before?

The PCB matches the Radeon HD 5850's 9.5in. The HD 6870 appears larger because the heatsink spills over the edge.

Look at it from here and it's just a longer version of HD 6850.

Comparing the two 6-series PCBs, we reckon that, should an add-in board partner wish, the Radeon HD 6870's PCB could be shortened to 9in.

A 151W TDP isn't particularly high for a modern graphics card. One look at the large heatsink would intimate otherwise.
