New Netbooks

Just in time for the back-to-school season, HP has announced the launch of five new or redesigned notebooks, covering almost all of the portable market-segments.

To start is the revamped Mini 210, which will be the first of HP's offerings to take advantage of Intel's new dual-core Atom N550 processor.  The 10.1in netbook will also be available with the choice of single-core Atom N455 or N475 CPUs as well as the option of Broadcom's Crystal HD chip for enhanced HD video-playback.  The included six-cell battery will provide over ten hours of battery-life, depending on configuration, and sits completely flush with the chassis.  Available immediately in the US, the new Mini will start at $329 (£256 including VAT).

Also available with the Atom N550, the new Mini 5103 shares many features and options with the Mini 210.  However, this netbook is available with an optional touchscreen to augment the user-experience, as well an upgrade to a 1,280x720px screen.  To give it a slightly nicer finish, the Mini 5103's enclosure is also made of brushed-aluminium, as opposed to plastic.  The netbook is available now in the US with a starting price of $399 (£311 including VAT).
