Overclocking

KFA2's factory overclock is impressive, but we already know that NVIDIA's GTX 460 provides ample room to manoeuvre.

Sticking to the card's default voltage of 1.012V, we were able to further bump up the card's core and memory to 875MHz and an effective 4,320MHz, respectively.

We struggled to maintain stability at over 880MHz, but by upping the voltage we expect to see enthusiasts hit 900MHz.

To see what impact our overclock can make, we re-run Aliens vs. Predator and DiRT 2 at 1,920x1,080. The overclocked numbers are denoted in the graph as "KFA2 GTX 460 LTD OC+".

Our eight per cent overclock clearly makes a difference. The additional speed bump allows the KFA2 GTX 460 1GB LTD OC to match GTX 470 performance in AvP.

DiRT 2 numbers are even more impressive.

Performance is undoubtedly good, but what's the knock-on effect?
