On the software side, the cards can handle ATI Stream, DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.0, OpenCL and Eyefinity, just like their consumer-focused cousins. However, the professional-grade cards are also certified for use with over 90 graphics applications, including SolidWorks and Autodesk.
“AMD and Dell are working together to offer workstation users a combined solution designed for reliable performance and demanding application support,” said Janet Matsuda, senior director, AMD Professional Graphics. “Our new generation of ATI FirePro professional graphics cards enable Dell to offer workstations that accelerate ATI Stream-enabled software applications and deliver unique features, such as ATI Eyefinity technology, enabling increased productivity by way of expanded screen real estate.”
The ATI cards join a range of NVIDIA professional graphics cards in Dell’s systems, giving users a full suite of options. The GPUs are available for configuration in Dell’s Precision desktop workstations immediately and will add £492, £260 and £86 (respectively) to the cost of a base system.
