NVIDIA has confirmed that its 3D Vision Surround technology won't be made available until at least the end of June.
The technology, which enables consumers to enjoy 3D imagery spanned across up to three displays, has been shown off at various trade shows since the turn of the new year and was touted as a key selling point for the GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 GPUs.
However, citing software delays, NVIDIA has revealed that 3D Vision Surround is "not ready yet" and, having missed the initial launch target of April, the company will now be hoping for a launch at the end of June.
According to NVIDIA, the 3D Vision Surround drivers are in need of "some final improvements", but whilst the software hurdle will soon be overcome, consumers will still face a significant hardware obstacle.
In order to create a true 3D Vision Surround experience, users will require dual GeForce GTX 200- or 400-series graphics cards in SLI configuration (or a single dual-GPU GeForce GTX 295), an NVIDIA 3D Vision kit - including a pair of active shutter glasses - and three same-make-and-model monitors capable of delivering a minimum 120Hz refresh rate.
