We touched upon ASUS' EEE Top ET2010 PC a while ago and, the company has duly announced its UK launch today.

Boasting what is defined as a super-slim 1-inch profile with 20-inch scratch-resistant multi touch screen, the ET2010 features HDMI compatibility, a 3-in-1 memory card slot and the usual myriad of USB ports.

Graphics duties are taken care of by either an integrated NVIDIA ION or ATI HD 5470 series solution, depending on the model selected. The same variety also extends to the heart and the soul of the system, with choices between an Intel ATOM Dual Core D510 CPU, running at 1.66GHz, or alternatively, an AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 250u 1.6GHz powered platform.

Storage comes courtesy of a 500GB SATA II HDD, with all options kitted out with 2GB DDR3 on the RAM side of things. Energy Star 5.0 accreditation out of the way, the EEE Top ET2010 range is beefed up with other suspects from WiFI 802.11b/g/n networking support, to a 1.3MP webcam and tray-in DVD writer.

Starting at just shy of £620 for the Intel/NVIDIA powered and £630 for the AMD/ATI powered flavours, the ET2010 is available now and comes backed up by a 1 year warranty.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to check that this is right:

Starting at £620 for the Atom & Ion, and £630 Athlon X2 and ATI HD 5470.
Is this right? This seems to make the Atom / Ion combination seem awfully poor value, given a system that (plugged in to the mains) doesnt need to be so power efficient.
It will probably be the Athlon L310 or similar, which while faster than the Atom, is still a netbook chip. It's a cracking little chip from my experience of the Acer Ferrari Ones we've bought (don't ask… not my idea! I hate the garish things, but the kids love them, and they are good).

//edit: The Athlon is the 250u, while the Atom has the D510. The AMD machine looks far superior to the Intel one.
