GIGABYTE has officially taken the wraps off its latest P55 motherboard, the range-topping GA-P55A-UD7.

The latest addition to GIGABYTE's long line of P55 solutions isn't one for the faint hearted, and despite having officially launched only yesterday, the UD7 has already claimed a number of benchmark records. This is the board that has achieved a SuperPi score of 5.944 and a PiFast score of 13.42 with an Intel Core i5 670 processor.

Performance, then, is the name of the game, and GIGABYTE's GA-P55A-UD7 has the enthusiast user in mind with four PCIe x16 slots, offering support for three-way NVIDIA SLI or ATI CrossFire. Helping provide enough juice for all those lanes is NVIDIA's NF200 chip, and GIGABYTE has also shoehorned in a PLX bridge to ensure the USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps interfaces are fed the required amounts of bandwidth.

Speaking of USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps, like previous GIGABYTE boards, the next-gen interface technologies are made available through the use of NEC and Marvel controllers, respectively.

The LGA 1156 board offers support for Intel's Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors, and overclockers can look forward to tweak-friendly features including GIGABYTE's 24-phase VRM, Hybrid Silent Pipe 2 cooling solution and the highly-publicised 2oz copper "Ultra Durable 3" PCB.

There's no mention of pricing yet, but seeing as GIGABYTE's UD6 currently fetches over £200, we reckon the UD7 is likely to creep closer to £250. Want a detailed look? Head over to the official product page at GIGABYTE.co.uk.
