Having given AMD's ATI Radeon HD 5870 the liquid-cooling treatment late in 2009, PowerColor has today turned its attention to the dual-GPU successor by launching the LCS Radeon HD 5970.

The liquid-cooled card, pictured above, makes use of an EK water block with a copper base that covers both the memory and power regulator chip. 3/8in and 1/2in barbs are bundled to help the enthusiast get up and running, and PowerColor's claim of a 30 per cent reduction in operating temperature will entice the overclocking crowd.

In addition to overclocking potential, PowerColor also throws in improved out-the-box frequencies, with the card's GPUs clocked at a 750MHz and its 2GB of GDDR5 memory at an effective 4,200MHz.

There's no word on pricing, but we'll find out soon enough as the LCS HD 5970 is expected to hit retail this coming Thursday, January 21st.

*Update* Anybody notice anything weird about the picture? We've had it pointed out to us, but we can't explain why there's another graphics card pictured laying beneath the LCS HD 5970.

Looks like it will end up pretty pricey. I wonder if the total price will come up more or less than a reference card with the block bought separately?
If you look at the 5870 LCS (has pre-installed EK block) it is 5870 + EK block + a bit.

Therefore, I assume that there will also be premium on this and will end up costing more than the price of the parts.
There is something wrong with the picture :O_o1:
I assume it's a comparison shot to what looks like a 4870 or possibly a 4870X2.
