We're used to seeing big, bulky mobile workstations, but Dell's latest offering - the Precision M6500 - is somehow big, bulky and sexy, too.

The latest Precision model, pictured below, aims to offer workstation-like power to users in the field. The system is the first in the Precision line to offer Intel's mobile Core i7 processors, and can be equipped with up to 16GB of memory and a choice of ATI FirePro or NVIDIA Quadro GPUs.

Prices start at £1,279 for a base model, but rise to over £4,000 for a model equipped with an Intel Core i7 920XM Extreme processor and 16GB of DDR3 memory.

A wide range of storage solutions are available - ranging from a 160GB hard drive to a 256GB encrypted SSD - and dual-drive RAID configurations are also an option. Dell ships the system with a slot-loading DVD writer as standard, and a Blu-ray recorder is available as a £435 extra.

Bringing it all together is a large 17in display offering a widescreen 1,920x1,200 resolution.

Available in Silver or Orange, the Precision M6500 is certified with a number of ISV applications, and Dell has already dubbed it the world's most powerful workstation. We reckon it might just be the world's best looking workstation, too.
