So you've got a shiny Radeon 5-series graphics card and want to maximise the gaming potential by running some DX11 code?

DX11, now part of Windows 7 and soon to come to Vista, provides developers with the ability to generate good-looking effects with greater efficiency, helped by the likes of hardware tessellation and display lists.

Codemasters is releasing DiRT2, the racing game, in December of this year, and it will become the third game to support DX11 technology, coming in after Battleforge and S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat.

Owners of Radeon HD 5800-class of hardware should have a DiRT2 voucher in their retail packs, redeemable once the game is available.

Now that Windows 7 is out in the wild, Codemasters - no doubt egged on by AMD - is keen to highlight the visual advantages of DX11.

In the YouTube video, below, the company describes some of the advances from DX9 (why not use DX10?).

Anyway, feast your eyes on some candy.
