Having expanded its line of Flash Voyager USB pen drives earlier in the week, Corsair is today giving similar treatment to its Flash Survivor line.

The Flash Survivor series, pictured below, is said to be "practically indestructible" and is now available in a 64GB model - that's double the largest capacity previously available.

Designed for the rugged crowd, the drives feature "super-strong, CNC-milled, aircraft-grade aluminium casing", together with a "molded, shock-dampening collar and EPDM seal". All that combines to make it water-resistant to depths of 200 meters, and Corsair reckons it'll keep working if you drop it, bake it, boil it, microwave it or run over it with an SUV.

Adding an extra layer of security, Corsair bundles the drive with NovaBACKUP software - making it a "disaster-proof" backup solution. As with previous drives, the 64GB model ships with a USB extension cable and dog tags, and is backed by Corsair's 10-year warranty.

You don't get much more rugged than these, but we have found that previous models aren't entirely indestructible. HEXUS' own Tarinder Sandhu found the 32GB model to be unsuitable for a round of Golf, whilst Nick Haywood - with a head full of hair - found the Survivor didn't enjoy being run over by a 15-tonne armoured personnel carrier. Goes to show, however, that you need to resort to drastic measures to kill one of Corsair's meanest drives.

We've yet to see any mention of pricing, but the 64GB Flash Survivor should appear at retailers in the very near future.

*Update* SCAN.co.uk* now has the 64GB Flash Survivor available to pre-order at a cost of Ā£135.02.

Aluminium? Why not Steel, Tungsten Carbide or Titanium? If they really want it indestructable then they need a stronger metal and not stuff that's meant to be wrapped around food.

I don't care if it's brushed by britney spears arse. I'd rather have a better metal.

Perhaps they wanted to keep the weight similar to other drives without incurring too much extra cost..
