With a little over a week to go before Microsoft officially introduces Windows 7 to the world, the biggest names in PC manufacturing are lining up with a bevy of supporting products.

One of them, Acer, has today unveiled its Aspire 5738PG - the company's first notebook to feature a multi-touch screen.

Launching on October 22nd with Windows 7 Home Premium as its operating system, the Acer Aspire 5783PG promises to make "entertainment and multimedia experiences more intuitive and interactive". What that means is the 15.6in, 1,366 x 768 display will allow for users to enjoy a number of gestures - including the usual two-finger tricks; pinch, zoom, etc.

Despite the addition of a full multi-touch display, the system retains both its keyboard and trackpad, ensuring users are spoilt for choice. If multi-touch displays do take off, we wonder if we'll start to lose trackpads in the long run?

Inside the Aspire 5783PG, users will find a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 processor, 4GB of DDR2 memory, ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics and a 320GB hard drive. There's also a DVD multi-drive, Wireless N connectivity, HDMI-out, a built-in webcam, four USB ports and stereo speakers with the promise of Dolby-optimised sound.

Not bad for a U.S. MSRP of $799.99, but we've yet to see any mention of UK availability.
