We found AMD's ATI Radeon HD 5870 to be a relatively cool customer, with surprisingly low operating temperatures and reduced power draw.

However, if AMD's reference design just isn't tickling your fancy, enthusiasts will be happy to hear that PowerColor is gearing up to launch a liquid-cooled alternative - most probably as part of its LCS (Liquid Cooling Solution) range.

The upcoming card has no launch date or pricing information just yet, but PowerColor tells us it'll be equipped with the EK 5870 waterblock pictured below.

If the wait is killing you, EK tells us the waterblock is already being manufactured and will become available tomorrow - October 9th. PowerColor's all-in-one liquid-cooled card is likely to follow shortly after, and though there's no mention of factory-overclocking, we're told the card "can fulfil the needs of hardcore players".

Those wanting silence and DirectX 11 goodness from something a little less extreme should also note that EK's working away on a Radeon HD 5850 waterblock, too. That's expected to become available later this month.

No costs and no pictures or ideas of card. Bit of a thin story there.
