ION-based mini-ITX board expanded

Having introduced a pair of NVIDIA ION-based mini-ITX platforms back in May, ZOTAC is today expanding its range with a "high-end" offering dubbed the ION ITX-F series.

The mini-ITX board, pictured below, combines NVIDIA's ION chipset - complete with a GeForce 9400M IGP - with Intel's dual-core 1.6GHz Atom 330 processor.

Unlike ZOTAC's previous offerings, the ION ITX-F manages to squeeze in a PCIe x16 slot - providing users with better expansion capabilities.

"ZOTAC always listens to user requests for features. End users loved our ION ITX series motherboards, but some requested PCI Express expansion. We listened and thus the ZOTAC ION ITX F series was born," said Carsten Berger, ZOTAC's marketing director.

Despite the addition of a PCIe x16 slot, the ION ITX-F retains all the functionality of ZOTAC's prior ION-based boards - including dual DDR2 memory slots supporting up to 4GB of RAM, three SATA ports, eSATA, as well as VGA, DVI and HDMI connectivity. There's Gigabit Ethernet, integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi and support for up to 10 USB ports.

With GPU-accelerated Flash video on the horizon, these ION boards are looking increasingly useful. No word on pricing or availability of ZOTAC's latest, though. Hit page two for a complete specification and a handful of additional images.
