Here's where the Radeon HD 5870 scores a home run when compared with other high-end GPUs.

AMD and TSMC's engineers have done an excellent job in keeping the power-draw in check, particularly the idle draw. The card consumes less power than a Radeon HD 4890 but is significantly faster.
