It's no secret that AMD is planning to unleash its ATI Radeon HD 5800 series graphics cards on September 23rd in the form of the ATI Radeon HD 5870 and ATI Radeon HD 5850. HEXUS readers may remember that the range-topping 5870 posed for the camera this time last week.

What we haven't had yet is a clear indication of pricing. Fortunately, European retailer Salland.eu is on hand with a premature listing of Sapphire's 1GB Radeon HD 5870. According to the site, the card will land next week priced at €319.99.

The listing has since been removed, but the screen gab is clear for all to see.

Salland's suggested pricing is anything but official, and we'll have to await AMD's official announcement for a definitive figure. Still, €319.99 (roughly £285) sounds about right for AMD's flagship card - and there's plenty of headroom for a sub-€400 2GB model.

IIRC That's a much higher introduction price than the 4870?

AMD must be very confident on the speed of this thing…

Or they're simply releasing it before the competition, rather than competing with an already existing product.
It's about right for launch of a premium card at the head of the market.
Looks like I am holding out for the 5850 then, I can't justify that.
It's an exact translation of the advertised USD price.
USD400 x FX + VAT = GBP 282.20.
