We first laid our eyes on ASUS' Lamborghini VX5 notebook back in March, and the Taiwanese manufacturer has today finally announced that the gorgeous-looking system is now available in the UK.

The Lamborghini VX5, pictured below, is said to feature a design inspired by the Reventón supercar, and as with all of ASUS' Lambo-inspired notebooks, it's equipped with the official Lamborghini seal of approval.

It looks sumptuous, thanks to features such as a ceramic touchpad and a genuine leather palm rest, but it isn't just about style, either. The VX5 packs a punch with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory and NVIDIA's GeForce GT 130M graphics.

The system's display measures 16in and provides a 1,366x768 resolution, and there's a built-in Blu-ray drive for high-def movies on the go. Surprisingly, ASUS has opted to drop the SSD storage option we first saw in the VX5, opting instead to equip the system with two 500GB hard dries.

There are plenty of goodies to make up for the lack of an SSD, though, including a backlit keyboard that adjusts brightness via a built-in light sensor, a two megapixel webcam with auto focus and a sapphire crystal lens, and Altec Lansing stereo speakers and subwoofer. Connectivity options come in the form of HDMI, eSATA, FireWire, four USB ports, Bluetooth, Ethernet and Wireless N.

Now for the important bit. The Lamborghini VX5 can be yours for £1,999, which ASUS reminds us allows users to "enjoy the luxury and essence of the Lamborghini brand at a fraction of the price". It'll be available in Dark Graphite Grey from most outlets, but if you really want to stand out then head over to Micro Anvika at Harrods, London, where you'll find an exclusive Ivory White model.

Are they raid0 or raid1? I'd have thought 1tb of data storage on a lappy would be a tad excessive tbh. I'd still rather see an SSD in there, I mean, it's all about speed & performance.
Would be interesting to know how well the battery performs in high power and low power scenario's. Cant imagine it to be too great.

Yeah, it seems like ASUS have based this on the rarely-seen Lamborghini Reventon Minibus Edition.
