Looks as though XFX is joining Sapphire in producing Radeon HD 4650 GPUs equipped with an AGP interface supporting both 8x and 4x speeds.

XFX's card, pictured below, sports a larger heatsink but sticks to AMD's stock frequencies - that's a GPU clocked at 600MHz and 512MB/1GB of DDR2 memory clocked at 800MHz.

The single-slot card measures roughly 178mm x 111mm x 19mm and requires a four-pin power connector. The 1GB model is already available in the U.S. priced at around $90, and XFX lists the card's complete specification as follows:

Bus Type: AGP 8X
GPU Clock: 600MHz
Memory Bus: 128
Memory Type: DDR2
Memory Size: 1,024MB / 512MB
Memory Speed: 800MHz
Thermal Solution: Fansink
Minimum Power Supply Requirement: 400Watt
Outputs: HDTV, Dual-Link DVI
Feature: ATI PowerPlayâ„¢ Technology, DirectX 10.1 Support, ATI Avivo HD
Package Contents: S-Video Cable, DVI Adapter

it faster than a 3850 agp card? Why no ddr 3?

why put more expensive g/ddr3 on a card where the agp bus probably wont benefit from it?

still nice to see theres still upgrade paths for those ancient agp setups, shame i got rid of my last agp board 5 years ago, otherwise i could have had a oober super athlon64 with 4xxx series gpu! wouldnt that be great /sarcasm

Depends entirely what you're using it for :P

Many games still don't utilise 2+ cores, So high clocked P4 / Athlons with a 4650 would still provide acceptable framerates on many games at 1280 x 1024. And if your computer is mainly used for web browsing and office tasks but you like to occasionally fire up some modern games with decent IQ at the native res of a 15“ or 17” monitor, this would be a lot cheaper than upgrading the entire computer to something with the same basic day-to-day performance just for a few extra fps…
My motherboard has an AGP slot and can take AM2 processors :)
And all AM3 processors are backwards compatible with AM2, non? ;)
