We've always felt that the right bundle could make or break a graphics card purchase, and Sapphire's looking to do something a little different.

The popular manufacturer of AMD graphics cards has announced that it will make BumpTop, a relatively new software application that transforms existing Windows desktops into a full 3D experience, available to all users of Sapphire GPUs.

Future Sapphire graphics cards will ship with BumpTop on the bundled software disc, and we're told that existing users of original Sapphire graphics cards will be able to download the software direct from SapphireTech.com - though, we're struggling to find a link at this moment in time.

The BumpTop interface, pictured above, can be configured in multiple colours and themes - and Sapphire users can expect a couple of Sapphire-branded skins to feature as standard.

Looks like an interesting piece of software, and it's ideal for demonstrating 3D computing, particularly if you happen to have a touchscreen display. Trouble is, Sapphire hasn't actually stated whether its bundle will include the full version of BumpTop, or the free-but-limited version that's available to anyone and everyone. We're hoping it's the full version.

looks like it has a few interesting features (I like the idea of “piling” desktop items), but frankly the 3D aspect doesn't really interest me - I can't see it adding much to the experience of using my PC. if I want to feel like I work in a box I could always get a job in a cube farm… ;)
how are they going to check whether you have a sapphire card or not?

the only way i can think of that will stop people with other cards getting the full version, is to have a small program - like gpu-z - that gets the hardware codes and sends them to sapphire, then sapphire send you the link.

and the only download link i could find was in relation to the press pack. its at the bottom of this page http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/media/?psn=0004&articleID=2216
It looks cool but seems to be a bit of a waste of resources. I use rocket dock which makes things a bit mac-like and keeps my desktop and start menu tidy.
And the porting of compiz begins.
It is only the ‘Free’ demo version… You must pay for the full thing, so no different than you can download from the BumpTop website anyway. All Sapphire have done is ‘decorated’ the wall with Sapphire logos!

@aidanjt: This looks a lot more intuitive and practical than Compiz!
