Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 has been released to manufacturing.

The RTM milestone is generally the penultimate stage before GA (general availability), and indicates that a product has met designated standards. In Microsoft's case, we're told that Windows 7 has been "through significant testing" and build 7600 has met the software giant's quality bar.

Looking ahead, Microsoft adds that its RTM code will be delivered to partners in the next few days. That should mean that we'll see numerous Windows 7 systems announced from not until October 22nd - the official date for general availability.

Killing two birds with one stone, we're told that Windows Server 2008 R2 has also RTM'd today.

So if the final build is 7600 does that mean that when i recieve my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium I can use the product key to activate my copy I have downloaded of the leaked build 7600? :/

It's best not to considering the build you downloaded might not actually be the RTM build. IIRC both 16834 & 16835 were leaked and both labelled as RTM. I'd wait till we have the official hashes from Microsoft.
Im using the leaked copy now, it has the finishing touches, including all the sound schemes, so looks final =D

Ill be activating it with a key on the 6th of august When technet supplies.

WZOR Has leaked the hashes from inside MS, and they match the leaked ISO.
Good. I just preordered my copy of Windows 7 Professional today.
I think at least two people in this thread should be rather careful what they say… *tsk*
