We often struggle to think of a product that ASUS doesn't make, and you can now scratch hybrid TV/monitors off the list.

The Taiwanese manufacturer of everything electrical has today announced its TV Monitor T1 Series, a collection of three displays - measuring 22in, 24in or 27in - that act as computer monitors with built-in digital (DVB-T) and analogue tuners.

Each display offers a full-HD 1,920x1,080 resolution, and ASUS quotes a contrast ratio of 20,000:1 and a brightness of 300cd/mĀ².

There are ample connectivity options - including a pair of HDMI ports, a pair of SCART sockets, VGA, composite, component and S-Video, too. Audio comes courtesy of two 7W stereo speakers, and there's a headphone jack and optical out.

No word on pricing or availability, but it's looking like a decent enough all-round solution.

What no DVI?!
Surely it will have DVI but if not.. LG's do :p
TN based. So it's a monitor that can double as a TV, but only if you sit at your desk. Why bother? :)
I have an LG 22" which does exactly this, TN based.. It's a brilliant monitor and TV and isn't even the current crop.

When I'm at my desk I can easily use the monitor with my laptop, Desktop, get freeview, use my dvd recorder, use consoles and PMP's without any real extra effort.

The question shouldn't be why bother, but why is it taking so long to catch on for we geeks :D

Just get a DVI to HDMI adaptor and then you can use a DVI connection :)
