Given the sweltering heat that's currently hitting large parts of the UK, it's an opportune moment to launch any form of cooling accessory.

California's NZXT is seizing the opportunity with its Sentry 2 fan controller, a 5.25in solution that sports a touchscreen interface. Sentry 2 becomes NZXT's first touch-capable fan controller, and it's compatible with up to five voltage-controlled fans.

What we like is that the Sentry 2 has the option of both manual or automatic fan control, with the latter determined by a pre-defined temperature.

Granted, NZXT's latest offering doesn't have the frills of say a £100 ASUS ROG OC Station, but it is a whole lot cheaper, with NZXT quoting an MSRP of $29.99.

The Sentry 2 feature list is detailed by NZXT as follows: 

• Touch screen interface
• Five fan control through an intuitive interface
• Ultra fast selection and response time
• Display temperatures in both F and C
• Light switch turns off the meter when sleeping
• Automatic and manual modes of control
• Full compatibility with all types of fans using voltage control
• With a minimum of at least 10 Watts per channel, the Sentry 2 will support almost all high end fans
• Tuned accuracy with only a tolerance of one degree
• Sound alarm to alert when the temperature is over
• Stored settings, the Sentry keeps your settings even after power off
